La Cygne Family Medicine Clinic Transitioning to Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas

During a July 26 meeting, the Lincoln-Scott Township Hospital Authority approved a transition of ownership and operational leadership of the family medicine clinic in La Cygne from Olathe Health to Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, Inc. (CHC/SEK). CHC/SEK is a Federally Qualified Health Center Corporation based in Pittsburg, KS, also operating primary care clinics in Pleasanton, Mound City, Fort Scott, Arma, Coffeyville, Columbus, Baxter Springs, Iola, Independence, Parsons and Miami, OK.

“CHCSEK has a proven track record for effective management and consistent, quality provision of care in clinics of this size and scope of coverage,” Paul Luce, VP-Operations of Miami County Medical Center, said. “We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with CHC/SEK and feel confident their organization is committed to meet the primary care needs of the La Cygne community.”

Olathe Health will donate the furniture and equipment within the clinic for CHC/SEK’s use. The staff of the clinic will have the opportunity to continue in similar roles, under the CHC/SEK leadership.

“We are honored the Lincoln-Scott Township Hospital Authority has the confidence in us to assume operations of the La Cygne Family Medicine clinic,” Krista Postai, President and CEO of CHC/SEK, said. “We have a great deal of respect for the quality care provided by Olathe Health and appreciate our on-going working relationship. We are committed to high quality, affordable care for the residents of all the communities we serve, and this commitment will be extended to La Cygne as well.”

The Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas is a not-for-profit, federally qualified health center dedicated to providing quality health care to everyone, regardless of income or insurance status. CHC/SEK serves more than 60,000 children and adults annually and employs more than 600 professionals and support staff

The transition of the La Cygne clinic is expected to be complete October 1, and October 4 is expected to be CHC/SEK’s first day seeing patients.
