Expecting the Unexpected: One Family's Birth Story
When she was pregnant with her second child, Andrea Corcoran of Olathe spent a lot of time planning: picking out baby names, preparing the nursery and talking through her birth plan with her husband and obstetrician. But no amount of planning prepared Andrea and her husband, Jack, for the month-early arrival of their baby, Nicholas.
"It was just a normal Monday at work, and my water broke," remembered Andrea, cradling her newborn son. "My co-worker drove me to Olathe Medical Center, where my husband was waiting for me."

The Nolans Welcome Baby James at The Birth Place
Three-month-old James Nolan gurgled happily while his mom, Kristen Nolan of Spring Hill, Kan., recalled her pregnancy and birth of her first child at Olathe Medical Center's (OMC) The Birth Place.
"My pregnancy was perfectly boring, we couldn't have asked for anything better," Kristen said. "And even though he arrived a week early, our labor and delivery were perfect too - the entire experience was amazing."
Kristen and her husband, Spencer, knew early in the pregnancy that they wanted to deliver their baby at The Birth Place at OMC.

Early Arrival for the Plessinger Twins
When Meghan Plessinger and her husband, David, found out they were going to be parents, feelings of joy and excitement quickly turned into new-parent nervousness.They were expecting twins.
