OLATHE, KAN. (November 5, 2018) – A recent technology integration is giving Olathe Health patients a more streamlined and personalized patient experience at Olathe Medical Center, Miami County Medical Center and all Olathe Health clinics. The enhanced customer experience, which is part of a large technology modernization with Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, encompasses approximately 50 different locations and integrates registration, scheduling and billing with the current electronic health records.
“We’re excited to offer this new technology integration across more than 50 locations in our network to better serve our patients and their care experience,” Randy Rahman, vice president and chief information officer, Olathe Health, said. “As the health care industry transitions from a fee-for-service model to a value-based care model, having our revenue cycle integrated with our electronic health records is an important foundation for our future workflow and data analytics.”
The technology integration is designed to benefits patients through:
- Enhanced identity protection
- Streamlined patient check-in, eliminating most paper forms with the implementation of e-signature
- Upgrades to the Patient Portal, including the ability to:
- Make an appointment with your current provider
- Schedule a screening mammogram
- Schedule a preadmission appointment for The Birth Place
- Continuity of patient information across all system locations
“The relationship between a health system and the community it serves is a vital component to delivering the care to patients, which is why Cerner is excited to support this new modernization effort at Olathe Health,” said Lary Ippolito, vice president and general manager, Cerner. “We recognize and embrace the privilege to work with this great health care organization to provide world class care and service to a community that includes many of our associates and their loved ones.”
One of the many ways this new technology upgrade is designed to benefit patients is by allowing them to only register once versus filling out duplicate information when they go from a clinic to the hospital. This integration will also aide doctors and nurses with tools they can use to provide better consistency of care. For instance, an oncologist with the Olathe Health Cancer Center now has access to a patient’s records for that clinic, as well as every clinic and hospital in the network.
