Understanding Your Bill

Why did I get more than one bill?

As some locations transition to The University of Kansas Health System, you may experience billing changes. In some instances, some locations will become a provider-based billing practice. This is a common model across large health systems. It means the doctor’s office where you receive care is considered a department of The University of Kansas Hospital. As such, you may receive separate statements for your provider’s professional services and for charges from the facility in which you received those services.

In other instances, you may still receive bills from Olathe Health and its providers for laboratory, imaging or other services rendered at other Olathe Health locations throughout integration.

What if I can’t pay my bill?

Health Services Financing Program Available to Help Patients Pay Expenses

Olathe Health is proud to offer patients a financing program, called Health Services Financing (HSF®), which allows them to pay their out-of-pocket healthcare balances over time with zero annual percentage rate. Patients and families are eligible for HSF® regardless of whether they have insurance, and without requiring a credit check.* There are no set-up fees, charges or penalties for early payoffs, and patients can consolidate charges to one account with one monthly payment.

How It Works

Not all patients are able to pay their out-of-pocket expenses in full right away. Participating in the HSF® program through Commerce Bank makes your life easier by allowing you to pay medical bills over time, through monthly payments.

Joining is easy and requires just a few simple steps.

  • Contact Olathe Health’s billing office at 913-588-5820 to enroll today.
  • Commerce Bank will provide you with a line of credit, consolidated into one monthly payment.
  • You can make single monthly payments online, by phone or by mail, or set up recurring payments.

*Disclaimer: Commerce Bank complies with the USA Patriot Act. This law mandates that Commerce verify certain information to establish an account for you. If the information you provide cannot be verified, no account will be opened, and you will be notified

Price Transparency

We understand the cost of your healthcare is important to you. Below is information to show you our standard hospital pricing for services and items, as well as the negotiated prices with our third-party payers. Please note that the actual amount you will pay out of pocket depends upon many factors including your insurance policy. See below for more information. If you have any questions, please call our pre-registration department at 913-355-4455.

The shoppable services information allows patients to estimate hospital charges for 300 common healthcare services. It includes the current hospital standard charge amount, expected charge billed to your insurer, or, if you don’t have health insurance, the cost billed directly to you for the selected services. All prices are estimates and may not represent the final charges billed by the hospital. The actual amount you will pay out-of-pocket will vary, depending on a variety of factors, including your specific insurance plan.

The pricing contained in these files is for hospital fees only (for example: supplies and equipment, room and board, and the use of hospital non-physician resources). Your actual total costs may be higher or lower depending on many factors, including, but not limited to, your and your physician’s treatment choices, actual services rendered, your particular healthcare needs, and the details of your insurance coverage, if any. You may also have separate bills from physicians involved in your care, such as emergency, surgery, anesthesiology, pathology, and radiology.

If you have questions about this pricing information or your estimate, please call pre-registration at 913-355-4455 or refer to your insurance plan documents for specific coverage details.

Please note:

  • Physician services received at Olathe Medical Center are not provided by the hospital and are billed separately by the rendering physician.
  • Inpatient attending and emergency room attending physician services received at Miami County Medical Center are provided by the hospital and detailed in these files. All other physician services are not provided by the hospital and are billed separately by the rendering physician.
  • The actual price you pay for healthcare services at the hospital depends on the health insurance plan you have. If you have insurance, you and the insurance provider share your healthcare costs. The specifics of your health care plan, like deductible and co-pays, will determine the amount you are responsible to pay for the healthcare services you received. If you do not have insurance, you may be eligible for an uninsured adjustment, and you may qualify for financial assistance. Learn more about our financial assistance policy.
  • To discuss an estimate for care, call us Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at 913-355-4455. A trained team member will answer your questions and make sure you understand the most realistic payments associated with your procedure – so you can focus on your health.
