Amber Lucas, a pharmacist at Olathe Medical Center, received one of the top awards in the state for healthcare pharmacists. She was awarded the 2018 Kansas Council of Health-System (KCHP) Pharmacy Legacy Award.

The Legacy Award is given to pharmacists who have developed an innovative service in their pharmacy, have performed outstanding work in their health system, are nationally recognized for their publications and help train pharmacy students. This is the highest award given by KCHP.

Amber Lucas, Pharm. D., BCPS, FASHP, MBA, is the clinical pharmacist for Neonatal and Obstetrics services and Pharmacy Operations Manager at Olathe Medical Center (OMC). She has led the implementation of pharmacy services in obstetrics and neonatal care at OMC. This includes standardizing neonatal pharmacy processes, developing a reference for compatibility of medications during lactation, standardizing drug boxes, and contributing to the development of a postpartum hemorrhage protocol.

Amber has served KCHP in several capacities, including President and Education Committee Chair. She has given numerous presentations and has written many publications on clinical and professional topics. In addition to Amber’s contributions at the state level, Amber is completing a three-year term as the Chair of the House of Delegates for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacy, and she recently received her Masters in Business Administration in Healthcare Management.

Phil Schneider, the Pharmacy Director at Olathe Medical Center, also received the Legacy Award in 2016.
