Screenings should begin at a younger age because new cases of colorectal cancer are occurring at an increasing rate among younger adults. Screening tests, like a colonoscopy, can find and remove precancerous growths in the colon before they turn into cancer, and diagnose colon cancer early when treatment is most successful.
