About Location
The Birth Place at Olathe Medical Center is readily accessible from I-35 and 151st Street. Our four-story obstetrics wing with a level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) features secure, webcam-enabled nurseries; NICU rooms where a parent can stay overnight with their baby; and luxury family suites with queen beds big enough to share.
Visitor Policy
Effective April 12, 2022
The Birth Place
To allow for continued healing and bonding time, visitor guidelines are as follows:
- Visiting hours are 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., with flexibility on the Labor and Delivery unit.
- Up to 4 visitors at a time are allowed in a patient room.
- Children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
- Additionally, visitors under the age of 16 are not allowed to spend the night.
NICU Guidelines
- A maximum of 4 visitors at a time (one being the guardian/caregiver with an armband) are allowed in a NICU room.
- Visitor restrictions apply during peak respiratory viral activity.
Visitation Hours:
- NICU hours are between 8 a.m.- 7 p.m.
- Parent(s)/caregiver(s) wearing an Identification Band may visit anytime.
- All parent(s)/caregiver(s) will fill out a daily wellness screen before visiting the infant.
Sibling Visitation:
- Any sibling under the age of 16 will be supervised by an adult at all times and have a visit time up to 30 minutes.
- A healthcare professional should interview parents/caregivers to assess the health of each sibling visitor.
- A daily wellness screen must be filled out for each sibling by a parent or caregiver.
- Siblings who are NOT ill (coughing, fever, runny nose, etc. and who have NOT been exposed to a person with a known or suspected communicable disease) are allowed to visit the NICU.

From a state-of-the art newborn monitoring system with a well-baby nursery to our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery Unit with neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners from Children’s Mercy, we’re here to provide your baby with the care he or she needs, when it’s needed most.
