One of the nation’s leading spine surgeons is now treating patients at Olathe Health. The health system officially opened Olathe Health Integrity Spine Surgery, located at Olathe Medical Center, today. The new spine service is led by Shyam M. Shridharani, MD, FAAOS, and includes a team of multidisciplinary specialists focused on finding the best treatment for each patients’ needs.

Dr. Shridharani has extensive experience using advanced techniques to treat a variety of conditions, including cancer tumors of the spine and spinal revisions. His areas of expertise include cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), lumbar (lower back) and spinal disorders. He has a vast surgical skill set including, robotic spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal microsurgery, conventional spine surgery, robotic spine surgery and complex spine surgery.

For the most complex spine surgeries, Dr. Shridharani uses a surgical robot that combines robotics and imaging navigation into one platform. It is designed to optimize patient care with improved accuracy, and enhanced safety and efficiency. He also uses a state-of-the-art surgical microscope and a robotic positioning system for precision in surgical treatment.

Dr. Shridharani is a Mayo-trained, award-winning surgeon who consistently delivers some of the highest patient quality outcomes in the country. He believes in maximizing nonsurgical options before considering surgical intervention and creating an individual approach for each patient’s needs. He has served as Chief of Spine Surgery at the University of Arizona. Dr. Shridarani is originally from Warrensburg, Missouri, and most recently led a similar complex spine program at Abrazo Spine Institute in Arizona.

The spine surgery program includes a new outpatient clinic with an X-Ray technician on-site, an enhanced hospital floor designed specifically for spine surgery patients, and upgraded entrances and main lobby to Doctors Building 1 for easier access.
