Antimicrobial Stewardship and Introduction to Infectious Diseases
Antimicrobial Stewardship and Introduction to Infectious Diseases is a required, one-month learning experience.
This rotation will focus on the fundamental skills and strategies of antimicrobial stewardship. The resident will participate in daily audit and feedback as well as administrative responsibilities. The resident will attend any meetings relevant to the antimicrobial stewardship program. When performing audit and feedback, the pharmacy resident is responsible for evaluating and recommending optimal antimicrobial treatment plans for inpatients. In addition, he or she is responsible for monitoring patients for drug therapy outcomes, providing drug information to medical staff, patients and families, and participating in infectious diseases consult rounds.
