Advanced Critical Care
Advanced Critical Care is an elective, one month learning experience at Olathe Medical Center designed to guide and prepare the resident to care for patients presenting with a variety of critical illnesses. This learning experience builds on Critical Care I by providing additional independent practice, the opportunity to precept an APPE student (if available), and a more in-depth critical care administrative project.
Orientation to the learning experience will be provided by the precepting pharmacist. Topic discussions will be tentatively scheduled at the beginning of the rotation. Topics will be determined by preceptor based on resident experience and topics covered on previous rotations. A list of potential topics are included at the end of the rotation description. If an APPE student is on rotation during Advanced Critical Care, the resident will gradually become the primary preceptor for the student as signed off by the resident’s preceptor(s).
