Post Surgical Care

Post Surgical Care is an elective, one-month, learning experience that provides opportunity for the resident to gain the knowledge, skills, and values to provide pharmaceutical care to patients in the perioperative period. Emphasis will be placed on pain management, anticoagulation, SCIP measures, and post-operative complications.

The pharmacy resident is responsible for evaluating medication appropriateness, monitoring patients for drug therapy outcomes, managing drug therapy protocols, and providing drug information to the physicians, nurses, patients, and caregivers.
